The Madone 5.9 offers spectacular value with Shimano's Ultegra Di2 electronic shifting coupled with 9-time Tour-winning geometry for the world's best handling and performance.
The nine yellow jerseys in Trek's trophy case didn't come easily. They came from the hands and hearts of the best racers in the world, the best team directors, and the top designers, engineers, and fabricators. Trek know how to put all the right pieces together to make the world's best bikes. It's in the DNA. Madone is engineered to give athletes a competitive advantage with the best equipment on the planet. The resulting assets - Grand Tour comfort, precise handling, instant acceleration, unmatched durability - await every rider who throws a leg over a Trek road bike.
Climb faster, ride further, and stay up front. Madone 5.9 takes race-readiness to the next level, with lightweight Bontrager Race X Lite components and Shimano Ultegra Di2 groupset matched to the superb 500 Series OCLV Carbon frame: lighter, stiffer, yet more compliant where it needs to be, than ever before.
The 5 Series offers true pro-level performance, with all the class-leading technologies of the flagship 6 Series on a meticulously engineered OCLV carbon frame. Uncompromising performance, unparalleled comfort, class-leading technology, affordable price.
- Better performance: Redesigned E2 fork, refined carbon layup, and an updated frame shape provide flawless cornering and instant acceleration
- Cleaner integration: The cleanest aesthetic on the market, featuring Advanced Cable Management, Di2 integration capacity, integrated DuoTrap electronics, and BB90 press-fit bearings.
- More comfort: The Ride Tuned seatmast removes 30g from the fuselage and adds 43% more vertical compliance.
- OCLV is Trek's patented carbon production process. Optimum Compaction (OC) means the carbon material is densely compressed, achieving the optimal fibre-to-resin ratio to maximize strength and minimize weight. Low Void (LV) means the carbon has almost no microscopic gaps between carbon layers, achieving a strength that exceeds even aerospace standards.
- BB90 is the widest bottom bracket available on a road bike. This Trek-exclusive carbon BB makes the frame lighter, stiffer, and quicker to accelerate.
- E2: A fork has two competing directives, to provide lateral rigidity for precision cornering, and to offer vertical compliance to absorb road imperfections. Trek’s E2 asymmetric fork/steering tube is the first steerer specifically shaped to manage both. It gives better comfort and better handling.
- Tapered headtube: The Bontrager E2 fork tapers from a 1.5" lower bearing to a 1 1/8" upper bearing. The larger-diameter lower bearing keeps the E2 fork stiffer under cornering loads and distributes forces more evenly, increasing the life of the bearings. Result: a more confident and durable ride.
- Ultimate comfort: Trek's Ride Tuned seatmast is designed to save energy and counter the pounding doled out by three-week Grand Tours. It's the lightest and most comfortable solution for riders interested in day-in, day-out performance and comfort. Trek's seatmast system also allows for the most adjustment than any other.
- Optimal routing: Trek’s integrated cable management is highly engineered for sleek styling and the real-world performance that comes from better compatibility with current drivetrains. Optimal cable routing offers flawless shifting, better braking, and easier assembly and maintenance.
- DuoTrap seamlessly integrates the computer sensor into the frame to measure speed, distance, and cadence with no added aerodynamic drag. It works with all the major ANT+ wireless technology players, including Bontrager, Garmin, Powertap, and SRM.
- Di2-specific integration: wider cable stops and a slick bottom bracket battery mount allow for a perfect interface with the industry-leading Shimano Di2 electronic drivetrain system without a single zip tie or strip of tape. It’s the most seamless component integration in the industry.
