Introducing the sensational new Madone 3.5. A world-class carbon frame and Ultegra equipment at a brilliant price.
Class leading OCLV technology results in a frame that exceeds even aerospace strength standards. Matched with an Ultegra/105 groupset it is fantastic value for such brilliant handling and performance, perfect for the discriminating sport-level rider.
Highlights:
- OCLV is Trek's patented carbon production process. Optimum Compaction (OC) means the carbon material is densely compressed, achieving the optimal fibre-to-resin ratio to maximize strength and minimize weight. Low Void (LV) means the carbon has almost no microscopic gaps between carbon layers, achieving a strength that exceeds even aerospace standards.
- E2: A fork has two competing directives, to provide lateral rigidity for precision cornering, and to offer vertical compliance to absorb road imperfections. Trek's E2 asymmetric fork/steering tube is the first steerer specifically shaped to manage both. It gives better comfort and better handling.
- Tapered headtube: The Bontrager E2 fork tapers from a 1.5" lower bearing to a 1 1/8" upper bearing. The larger-diameter lower bearing keeps the E2 fork stiffer under cornering loads and distributes forces more evenly, increasing the life of the bearings. Result: a more confident and durable ride.
Three-week Grand Tours are Madone's testing ground. And Madone aces the tests. Just look at all the yellow jerseys it has hanging on the wall. More comfortable, more responsive, better handling and lighter - it's the right formula for elite Tour riders, and the right formula for you, no matter your size, shape, or ability.
There's a mountain just outside Nice, France where greatness is tested. The Col de la Madone. It's not the steepest, or the longest, or the hardest climb. It's Lance's climb. When he wanted to test his fitness, he came here. 12km. All out. Greatness came from this mountain. And it's why Trek named their best road bikes after it.
Cycling Plus:
"Wonderful ride, great value and it even has mudguard mounts!"
"The Trek Madone 3.5 surprised and impressed us in equal measure. The frameset is quite brilliant and the fact that it’s completed with such good quality components makes the 3.5 a highly tempting proposition.
* Highs: Incredibly smooth ride, impressive spec, and handling that’s the ideal blend of stability and sharpness
* Lows: We’ve found the 3.5 difficult to fault; from its frame to its spec it’s all great performing and great value stuff
* Buy if: You want a bike that’s a truly capable all-rounder, whatever the weather."
