Without a doubt, Urrun is an ebike to take you far and explore distant horizons, but the name holds more significance. Urrun is about the long journey embarked upon by Orbea with this bike and how far we have come. Highlights:- Long range: lighter bike, more efficient battery cells and lower power consumption result in long ride times. - Urrun is all about long rides and big adventures. The highly optimised battery offers cutting-edge energy density, allowing more riding to be fitted into a smaller space, improving aesthetics and reducing weight. Urrun has enough assistance for around 3500 metres of climbing or up to 8 hours of riding. - The exclusive EP8-RS motor gives the quietest, most natural feeling assistance possible with no lag or drag. RS Power means that just as you are pedaling harder, the motor responds instantly with more assistance, which is one reason it feels so alive and natural. - Advanced and lightweight hydroformed triple butted aluminium frame with high polish frame finish that not only produces a sleek look, matching the aesthetics of a carbon frame, it also increases fatigue resistance in critical areas. - The integrated battery simplifies the mounting and locking systems, greatly reducing weight and size as well as increasing the stiffness of the frame. Rider Synergy (RS) Concept RS is a new philosophy - a new riding experience that enhances the joy of traditional trail riding with smooth support that feels as natural and alive as your own body. It results from a completely integrated system that becomes a reality when Power, Range, Interface and Weight are considered together. Urrun's power comes from an EP8 RS motor, developed in an exclusive collaboration between Orbea and Shimano, to give the most natural-feeling riding experience. Lightweight, quiet, responsive and efficient. Complementing the power of the motor is the advanced 540Wh battery that is as optimised and lightweight as possible, and has one of the highest energy densities on the market. The RS concept provides a great day on the trails because the lighter bike, lower power consumption and of course, greater reliance on your legs extends battery life by a factor of over 1.5x. Urrun's highly-optimised 540Wh battery equates to around 810Wh in a standard ebike. If that's not enough, you can add the RS Range Extender battery to give an additional 252Wh of exploration. Combined with the internal battery that's an impressive 792Wh. The Range Extender provides instantaneous power, so plug in any time and enjoy ridiculously long rides. Or replace it with a bottle and don't carry the extra weight on normal rides.  Details:  RS PowerWhen Shimano shared the plans for their new EP8 motor, Orbea quickly realised that this awesome drive unit offered the perfect platform on which to build the RS Power concept. Orbea's dream of a rider first, highly responsive and super-efficient system was within reach. Working together Orbea developed proprietary electronics and batteries while Shimano configured the EP8 motor.  The maximum torque of the EP8 RS motor is 60Nm, with a power map designed to match your pedalling and cadence in a subtle, natural yet energetic way. The motor delivers maximum power when you are pedalling the strongest: the harder you pedal, the more power it will deliver. The instant power transmission is quiet and unnoticeable, yet it's sensitive and ultra responsive to your output, encouraging you to keep pedalling. Responsive: Power is only as useful as the manner in which it is applied. The EP8 RS power band feels alive, smooth and responsive, echoing your input and cadence. Orbea's custom electronics are tuned so that the peak power delivery come at rider cadences of 75-95 rpm. This is no coincidence, as this range happens to be where experienced riders produce the most power and efficiency. This way the human and bike interaction is optimised and natural riding is enhanced. - The harder you pedal, the more assistance Urrun provides - Full power comes when you're also doing your best - It's instantaneous and extremely sensitive to your output - It's an amazingly natural feeling that encourages you to pedal - One of the quietest motors on the market provides a totally unique feel - Maximum torque: 60Nm - Weight: 2.6kg RS Smart Charger: Extra battery capacity usually means a longer charging time, so Orbea developed a new smart charger. This charger detects if you're charging the new 540Wh battery or the new Range Extender and will adjust the charge voltage accordingly. For the main battery, the charge will be at 4A, reaching an 80% charge in just 3 hours; the Range Extender will be charged at 2A. The Smart Charger constantly monitors the battery, giving a fast, safe charge, as well as increasing the battery lifetime by around 30%  Display and data: The easy to use Shimano SC-E5003 computer provides a clear display that illustrates the functions of the ebike system (battery level and estimated range) and ride data (trip distance, odometer and current speed). It is also the controller, with the big, easy to find buttons enabling the rider to adjust the level of assistance up or down. GPS and cycle computer data is also available through Garmin IQ, so that you can have all the information you could wish for - support mode, assist level, cadence, range, speed - on your favourite computer or smartwatch. Data is recorded within the Garmin IQ interface for further study, sharing with friends or just for reference months later to see how much battery was used in that epic ride you want to repeat.  Power button and charge port The power button is tucked away by the bottom bracket, and all wires are routed internally. The charging port on the side of the seat tube is protected by a tough water and dirt proof cover. It also has an integrated Clean Clip feature that holds plugs tightly when using the RS Range Extender or just sealing the connectors when closed.  FrameOrbea selected the best materials and applied the most advanced manufacturing processes, just as it does for its highest-level carbon frames. Thanks to the double- and triple-butted, hydroformed tubes, the team optimised the thickness and shapes of the tubes and reinforced the most delicate areas. In other words, it saves weight where you don't need material and adjusts the stiffness in the important areas. To give the highest level of attention, Orbea applied its polishing process to the frame. This technique smooths the welds at the tube joints, matching the aesthetics of a carbon frame. In fact, it's difficult to discern the differences between an aluminium frame and carbon frame. This process also increases aluminum's fatigue resistance in critical areas.  Adventure Ready GeometryPrepare for some proper adventures because Urrun is always ready. The balanced geometry means great trail manners which maximises fun for all riders. Clearance for tyres of up to 2.6" Wider tyres and great suspension forks are just the icing on the cake. |
